First Selectman


Candidates

Vote for one.  One to be elected.

Office Responsibilities
Supervises Town Departments.

Responsible for Town labor negotiations.

Non-voting member of all Town boards.

Voting member of Flood & Erosion Control and Bruce Museum boards.

Prepares Annual Town Budget proposal for BET.

Approves/Monitors Town operating plans (except Education and Finance).

Selectman


Candidates


Vote for one.  Two to be elected.  The votes cast for an unsuccessful candidate for First Selectman shall be counted as votes for such candidate as a Selectman.  The two highest vote-getters (including votes for unsuccessful candidates from the First Selectman race) will serve on the Board of Selectmen.  Not more than two members of the Board of Selectmen may be members of the same political party.

Town Clerk

Prepares ballots, regular and absentee.
Secretary of the RTM (Representative Town Meeting).
Maintains marriage, birth, and death certificates.

Board of Estimate and Taxation


Candidates

Vote for up to six.  Twelve to be elected, not more than six from one party.  

The chairman casts a second, tie-breaking vote in case of a tie at a Board meeting. The chairman and vice-chairman of the Board shall be chosen from those members of the Board who belong to the political party receiving the greatest number of votes cast for all the candidates of any one political party for members of the Board of Estimate and Taxation.

Handles school redistricting.
Provides for continuing education.

Board of Assessment Appeals

Board Responsibilities
Decides appeals by residents of property assessments, real and personal.
Revises assessments upwards or downwards.
