About this event
Are you someone who cares about immigration policy? Would you like to connect with a small group of fellow Greenwich residents holding different political views to see where you can find common ground on this issue? Then we hope you will consider joining us on Saturday October 24, from 9:30am to 2:30pm, at North Greenwich Church for a unique workshop led by Braver Angels. This event is also sponsored by North Greenwich Church and the League of Women Voters of Greenwich.
Here is what you can expect: a carefully moderated, structured conversation designed to help people with differing political perspectives better understand one another’s values, concerns and desired policies around immigration. There will be an equal number of conservative-leaning (“Red”) and liberal-leaning (“Blue”) participants. This is not a debate but a structured conversation where respectful listening and constructive engagement are encouraged.
In the final exercise of the workshop, the group works together to document genuine “Points of Agreement” that are unanimously supported by the Red and Blue participants. These outcomes will be combined with those from other Braver Angels Common Ground workshops taking place around the country to help identify areas of of immigration policy that may have broad support across the political spectrum.
The League of Women Voters of Greenwich, a nonpartisan organization, is participating in this program as part of its commitment to informed civic engagement and constructive public dialogue. LWVG’s participation does not imply endorsement of any positions or points of agreement that emerge from the workshop.
Coffee and lunch will be served.
