Town Clerk and Tax Collector

Board of Selectmen

All candidates, moderators and timers were live at Greenwich Town Hall.  All audience participants were virtual via Zoom.

Questions were submitted by registrants.
LWV Greenwich uses only questions that all candidates can address. Questions were organized by topic, and topics were prioritized by frequency of submission. Both Republican and Democratic members of LWV Greenwich Board reviewed and prioritized the assorted list. The Moderator selected which questions were asked that evening.

Moderator: Kay Maxwell, Past President of the LWV US and Connecticut
Questioner: Sarah Boside, GHS student

Board of Estimate and Taxation (BET)

The Board of Estimate and Taxation is one of the Town’s most important governing entities.  All twelve candidates nominated by the Democratic and Republican parties will serve.  Electors should vote for all six candidates from the party that best represents their point of view.  The party with the most cumulative votes selects the BET Chair, who has a tie-breaking vote and often control of the Board's decisions.

This debate was conducted on October 27th, in Town Hall, and aired on GCTV and YouTube.  Structured in a new format — party candidates sitting together and taking turns responding to questions — this exchange should allow the voter to understand differences by party in approach to town funding issues.

Questions were submitted by registrants, and reviewed and prioritized by three LWVG members: one Democrat, one Republican, and one Unaffiliated voter.

Moderator: Kay Maxwell, Past President of the LWV US and Connecticut
Questioner: Arjun Kishore, GHS Student

For more information and explanation of the BET’s powers and voting process, check out our three-minute video.

Board of Education (BOE)

The BOE consists of eight members for four-year staggered terms. Voters may vote for up to four candidates.  Those receiving the highest number of votes are elected but no more than two from each party will be seated.  The Chairman is elected by the Board and does not have a tie-breaking vote.

This is GCTV's recording, which contains the "Lightning Round".
